Cannot access Bouncing members

This morning I could not access the 'Bouncing' members list on my IO group 'CostaRicaLiving'. When I click on the blue 'Members' button nothng happens. Also there is no little triangle/arrrow next to the word 'Member' in the blue button. Is this a glitch that's been reported?

I checked another of my groups that has several members pending approval and can see the pending members listed but the blue button says 'Members' and when I clicked on it it still says 'Members' but now I can see the Active Members list. But then I cannot re-access the pending members using the Blue 'Members' button, although I can access the pending members via the lefthand sidebar.

Using a MacBook Pro with OS 10.11and Safari 11.1.2

TIA for any suggestions.

Looking closely at your image, it appears that the box for the second person (Alcock-Ferg...) is a tiny bit taller than the rest, so creating the blanks.? (This used to happen in the photos area.)? I'd post it as a #bug on the since it's the site that determines the box size.

Louie -- Open that person's member record and click the Activity History button (screenshot below). If that person has taken action that has?changed any group content (posted a message, uploaded/deleted a file, modified a wiki page, etc), you should find a corresponding entry in the log.

Logins are an account activity, not a group activity, and are thus not recorded in group logs. And unfortunately, read-only activities such as downloading a file, browsing messages, or visiting wiki pages are also not recorded.

Failing all that, you can always send each such person a private message and see if it bounces.

Hope this helps,
Bruce

Hm.

What is your "items per page" setting? Are these two entries actually "missing?" By that, I mean do you have two people in your Member List that would normally drop into this (alphabetical) gap? And could both accounts in Bouncing or NC status...or maybe Pending?

Such members are normally omitted from the Directory, but I can't recall them leaving a space like that.

Peculiar,
Bruce

Looking at the Directory, I noticed that there is a space on the second row and would like to ensure it is filled when viewed.? As usual, any help gratefully received!

Re: Donations

Andi,

Is there a reason why Donations are not applied directly and instead
forwarded to forum Owner?
Because donations may be used for any purpose, including dues in a real-world club or whatever.

This creates accounting complexities and tax implications. Any way
around this?
Turn off Donations and use Sponsorships instead.

Re: Trimming - Any explanation that is clear for Members

Dear Shal, Derek, Skip, and others following along,
I want to say again how grateful I am for the warmth and care exhibited by the "old" timers :-)
I was really embarrassed to bring this issue up and yet I never experienced anything other than
camaraderie with regard to finding a solution. Thank you so much.

Re: Regarding a current situation - thoughts needed

I've noticed also that if they happen to be a spam email address, they are removed from my pending member requests before I can get to them.

Re: Member can't reply to messages

Thanks everyone

I keep checking my spam/junk folder. I have gmail and it doesn't show up anywhere in their folders or any of those other tabs.??

Nothing shows up in my email delivery history as a bounce.? But again, I'm not sure if these private replies show up there either.
Her email delivery history also shows no unsuccessful email deliveries and no bounces.? She does receive the listserve emails to her inbox as a daily summary.??

I'm really unsure how else to help her, but for now, I've told her to try receiving the emails as individual messages so she can try to respond directly to someone's email address when it comes in.

Check the Activity log for the group.? You'll probably find they "left" while their application was pending and before you approved it.? Sometimes people change their minds or possibly don't understand what they're doing.

Re: Regarding a current situation - thoughts needed

I'm having a similar issue which I've mailed support about. I'm getting the e-mails asking to be approved as a member but when I click on that to go to the pending members page to approve them etc there's no one there. I have 2 currently dated the 26th and 30 of March but they're not showing up in the pending section or in the members page when I click on pending. There's no one there waiting. I really hope support will get back to me on this as I don't want people who need support for health issues sitting there waiting thinking they're being ignored. I had another lady a few weeks ago who I had the same issue with and I had trouble inviting her via e-mail, it would let me invite on her e-mail address. I have since let her in using a different e-mail and that one showed up in pending clearly or she wouldn't now be a member. Anyone else have issues with pending members not showing up??

Re: Database Archival

You could download the database and upload the file to your files.?

Re: Trimming - Any explanation that is clear for Members

Andi,

Thank you for responding to my request for support.
Heh, if only I could give you actual support. No wait, I'll keep my day job -- nevermind. ;-)

Here is alink to the video.
Yeah, I see why you don't use that one: Dark, blurry, boring, and obsolete (describes Yahoo Groups rather than Groups.io).

If anyone has the itch to do it, this sounds like a good candidate topic for GMF's wiki.

Many individuals on the forum don't know / understand the language
of trimming and even when I have shared examples, Members don't seem
very interested in carrying out the tasks.
Yup, that's a very old problem.

Groups.io attempts to mitigate the issue by detecting the quoted material in a top-posted message and trimming them from the Digests as well as hiding them under the "Show quoted text" button on the web interface.

The real issue is for the the responses that are not hidden behind the
"show quoted text" or "..." because then you have to scroll and scroll
and scroll...
Instances like that may be reportable to Groups.io as a #bug:

The key is whether there's any marker in the message which Groups.io could/should have used to recognize the trailing quote.

Uh, except I think the "..." is a gmail thing, not Groups.io.

Database Archival

Any recommendations for best way to archive databases?? We are cluttered with some old databases that are no longer being used, but we'd like to save them in case the information is needed in the future.? Thanks!

Re: Member can't reply to messages

Linda,

She is able to write a message. She clicks on reply to sender. The
green banner pops up letting her know that she sent the message. ... I
haven¡¯t received any of those private messages, not in my spam folder
either,
Make sure you've checked the spam folder on your email service's webmail interface, not just one in your desktop/mobile app.

When she clicks on bcc, she does receive an email to herself (but it
does end up in her spam folder).
Most likely that's also what's happening to the reply sent to the each of the intended members - in their Spam/Junk folder.

A long-shot is that your email service (and that of the other members) are rejecting her message for some reason. If so that would show up in your (and the other members') Email Delivery History as a bounce.

Or, if you check soon enough after she replies, it may show up in the Most Recent Successful Delivery" pane of the recipient's Email Delivery History. If it does then you know that the problem is on the receiving end.

I¡¯m not aware of any settings she could have selected on her own end
preventing a private response.
I don't think there is either.

Re: Member can't reply to messages

Sorry what I meant by ¡°nothing¡± is that nothing appears to be sending. She is able to write a message. She clicks on reply to sender. The green banner pops up letting her know that she sent the message. ?See screenshot of her screen when I did a test post for her to reply to. I?haven¡¯t received any of those private messages, not in my spam folder either, and other members don¡¯t appear to be receiving messages when she private replies also. ?When she clicks on bcc, she does receive an email to herself (but it does end up in her spam folder).

Re: Trimming - Any explanation that is clear for Members

Yep, Derek, the easiest way to trimmed posts is replying on the web :-)
Thank you for taking the time to respond. I find this information very helpful.?
