Lisa -- Any Owner can delete a group; but to do so, you have to click the Delete Group button at the bottom of the Settings page, followed by typing "I understand" in the confirmation dialog. This sequence of events is unlikely to happen by accident.
?
Go to the group's home page (htttps://groups.io/g/GROUPNAME). If the home page is still there, the group still exists.

If you've lost your administrative functions, it's probably because you aren't logged in...or maybe you are logged in, but with the wrong email address.?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/8512?

The probe went through, but they didn't click on the link contained in it.? Until that happens (they remove themselves from bouncing status) they will continue to be a red B.

What does the above mean?
Optusnet uses the spamhaus list for filtering emails.? Back in October spamhaus put GIO on the blocked (known spammer) list, so all groups email was marked as spam.

There was recently another person using optusnet that had the same problem of their messages not getting through.? It turned out that the emails they were sending were from optusnet.com.au instead of the subscribed address of optusnet.com? They removed the .au in their sending program and all was well again.? We know that they're the same, but GIO takes them literally, so they're deemed two different addresses.? The other option would be for them to add an alias for the .au address to send from.

What's the problem?
The successful delivery of a bounce probe does not unbounce the account; for that to happen the account holder (= member) must respond to the bounce probe.

Members in red bouncing although bounce probe was apparently accepted

I have several members, with accounts linked to the same provider, in red bouncing status.
That provider has been blacklisting GIO for a while.
I wanted to do one last test and sent a bounce probe on Dec 22.
Checking under Email Delivery History for each bouncing member I found the following:

Most Recent Successful Delivery
Message
Bounce probe
Delivered
Dec 22
Response
<5FDB3D3E00E33A11> Mail accepted
(number changes for each member)

Apparently the bounce probe went through, but the member is still in red bouncing.
What's the problem?

Thank you for your help.

Understanding posting problem for subscriber

I have a subscriber who says they tried to post to one of my groups but the post was returned as she was not a subscriber although has been for nearly a year

They posted today and on the 21st Dec so there does not appear to be a problem at present

I do not know as yet if they tried to send from an email address which is not subscribed

Under her Email Delivery History

Recent Bounces

Oct 17

extmail.optusnet.com.au: 521 5.7.1 <*@optusnet.com.au>: Recipient address rejected: You are not allowed to send mail. Please see if you feel this is in error. (127.0.0.4)

What does the above mean?

(I think I understand it but would like confirmation)

Under the groups activity I found no bounced or rejected posts from her name or email address just the two recent posts and then in March before that

Do you mean she was removed from the group? Perhaps by marking a message as spam?

As long as there is one owner (you, I assume), your group is safe. I understand that Groups.io won't let the last owner leave.

Re: #issue #invitation #issue #invitation

Neill,

I would like to offer the "+subscribe" method to individuals who have
been active in the group.
I assume you mean the former Yahoo group...

I tested it with a friend using the syntax: ...
This has not been successful.
As Duane said, that should work.

But note, the person sending to the +subscribe address must receive and respond to a confirmation request sent from Groups.io. Absent their confirmation nothing else happens: no activity log entry, no Pending Member entry.

If that person doesn't promptly receive the confirmation request in their Inbox, they should check their Spam folder, Junk folder, or wherever else their email service may have diverted the message.

I couldn't find a relevant entry in the Help section.

Moderator reinstatement after spam marking

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

[Sorry if this has already been discussed.? I made an attempt to search archives for an answer, to no avail.]

If a member is removed for marking a message as spam (or a message was marked as such on his behalf), and does not click the reinstatement link within 7 days, can the member or moderator reinstate or generate a new link, or is just a new subscription?

Thanks!

Nothing has changed on the GIO end of it.? Have you checked your subscription to see if you're bouncing?? If not, your email provider may be black holing the messages.? No need for web/app if you don't have your browser set for notifications or the app installed on a phone/tablet.

Have you allowed non-members to post? See?/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/customizing-group-settings/message-policy-settings?single=true
Make sure that "allow nonmembers to post" is unchecked. If you don't allow nonmembers to post (with approval by owner / moderators), the messages are automatically rejected with a note saying that you must be a member to post.

You might want to check out the Help - lots of small revisions.
