Re: transfer of yahoo group - help please
Stephanie,
(I assume I need to pay and then direct add, but is that easy for aIt is pretty easy. Frances' links show the way. Direct Add and Invite are nearly identical in how you use them, differing primarily in whether the addressee needs to take an action (reply or click a link, for Invite) or not (for Direct Add). 2. In yahoogroups, when a member replies to an email, the member canActually, in Yahoo Groups, as here, the behavior of the user's Reply or Reply All function depends in part on the group's setting. Where confusion arises is with the behavior of various members' email interfaces, which vary in how they use the content of the To, CC, From, Reply-To, and other fields in forming a Reply or a Reply All (or a Reply List). For Groups.io the "Reply To" selection in the Message Policies panel of your group's Settings page. It controls the insertion of a Reply-To field in the outgoing messages. A common choice, used here in GMF, is "Group". The simple Reply function in (most) members' email interface will form a reply directed to the group's posting address. If your group sets Reply To to "Sender" then Groups.io will either not insert a Reply-To field or will insert one that directs the Reply function to the posting member's address (for reasons). For the most part this will let the member's email interface behave as a "standard email" in the way you seek. Transfer from Yahoo group
Hello. I am trying to find the transfer method to switch a yahoo group to a group here. I found the instructions from 2019, but they no longer appear to be valid. Can anyone help me with this? My apology of the updated information is posted somewhere; I couldn't find it. If you could direct me to that information, I would much appreciate it. I have several yahoo groups that i would like to transfer over. Thank you for any help you can give. |
Re: Reply and reply all configuration
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýChris, yes I¡¯m talking about the email client buttons. I believe most people respond to their emails using their email client buttons. So when one responds to a groups.io email with the email client buttons, they will not work as reply or reply all??? but instead both buttons will go to one choice determined by how group is configured? For example, to send this email, I hit reply, but instead of it going to you, it populated the ¡°to¡± field with the entire group...so the ¡°reply¡± forced a ¡°reply all¡±.?I don¡¯t understand why reply doesn¡¯t go to sender and reply all doesn¡¯t go to group, so people can reply to who they choose.? ?(The links at the bottom aren't a good work around, bc most people use their email client to reply and the bottom links don¡¯t include the thread.) Re: Members left and rejoined
FYI folks, I've posted an inquiry to beta on this. Just struggling to wrap my head around "resumed via web." I've never noticed any web feature that would allow someone to resume a vacated membership...especially in a Restricted group. Rejoin, yes.
Maybe there's something in the phone app that would allow this to happen. Regards, Bruce Check out the groups.io Help Center?and?groups.io Owners Manual |

Sorry, I don¡¯t understand...Neither do I, or at best I'm not sure. Then I looked a bit harder at your final sentence: Not the link option at the bottom of emails that start blank message. I then concluded (rightly or wrongly) that you want your email client Reply / Reply All buttons (or those on your mail provider's web interface) to determine the destination of a reply... (either the original sender or the whole group) rather than use the links provided by Groups.io in the footer of each message. If my conclusion is correct, then the answer quite simply is no. Your email client (or mail provider's mail interface) is an instruction to your mail provider, not to Groups.io.? Similarly using either the Reply Sender or Reply Group links in a message footer is an instruction to Groups.io, not to your mail provider. Chris |

Re: Invites not working
Cal,
I am inviting from my groups.io log in, and my first attempt withCan you explain more clearly what you try to do, and what you see, when the process does not work? So far our guesses have been all over the map because we're working with almost no information. I do notice that when it works I get almost an immediate response thatAnd when it doesn't... What do you notice? One possibility is that sometimes your attempt to invite is being held pending approval by Groups.io. This happens whenever you've invited more than 20 addresses in the past 24 hours. /helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/inviting-people-to-join-a-group/inviting-more-than-20-people-at-a If that's the case you should know it from a banner that is put on the Invite page when you click "Send Invitations". In this casethose invitations "haven't worked yet". They'll be released as soon as approved. Note the general advice is to Invite your entire list at once, so as to incur this delay only once. That's after inviting a few addresses of your own as tests to iron out your Invite message and gain familiarity with the process. I have considered upgrading to Premium , but I¡¯m not sure if that willYou can choose the Premium for one month plan, which downgrades automatically at the end of the month. It is designed for this exact situation (using Direct Add to bring in an initial list of members when forming a group). Note: Direct Add is also subject to the approval requirement. So in that sense it won't work any faster. My group are all seniors and some have a hard time with email inThat's a good use case for Direct Add over Invite. I do the Premium for one month in my PTA group to bring in new parents each year at registration - it is far easier for me than herding them all through the Invite, Request Membership, or +subscribe processes. I have had similar problems on my iPad. I think "missing content in Portrait mode is "known" iOS behavior. ?I prefer portrait mode so I can use two thumbs to type. Apparently those of us who prefer portrait mode are in the minority. So in order to see everything, the iPad needs to be turned to landscape mode to "find it". Then it somehow remembers the missing content so that it will be displayed in the future while in Portrait mode.?
IDK, but maybe that applies to iPhones as well. Glad the newer model or newer iOS was able to see all the content. Gives me hope when I upgrade. -- Sandi Dickenson |

I am wrapping my head around this one. I too, don't see anyway to force a web only reply.?
Even if it were possible, members could email new posts to the group by inserting your group's email address in the "TO" field. You would end up with new posts as replys to already posted topics. I do know of a service that does require members to log in to post. It's called . They work closely with hobby clubs that need to keep all content "closed and private".? Members receive an email digest of the topics posted but they receive no content. They are forced to log into the website in order to read the post and reply.? It offers a forum, calendar and direct add and removal of members. There's a file area for newsletters and other content. Support is outstanding. They are good at hand holding every step of the way.? -- Sandi Dickenson |

Hi Maria,
I have always done it the same way as Michael describes. I feel it gives me more control. Instead of wondering if the change will "go through OK" on the system side of things.? I know immediately that I can get in as an owner under both emails which is a lifesaver in event that one account were to compromised or lock me out.? I usually also join under a third account as a member and set that to digest. It lets me monitor what my members see on their digest. -- Sandi Dickenson |
