It would help if you actually shared that IP Address with us! It would give us all the opportunity to watch out for it.

Re: Problem with an email address change

Linda,

However, she's not receiving any group mail. Does anybody know what
might be wrong?
One place to check is the Email Delivery History tab of her Membership page.

Ideally a recent message from the group will show in the Most Recent Successful Delivery panel. In this case her email service accepted the message, but likely put it someplace like a spam or junk folder (instead of her Inbox) and she hasn't noticed that yet.

If her new email address is rejecting group messages for some reason those will show under Recent Bounces.

If her new email service is delaying the delivery of messages to test whether Groups.io is a spam source that will most likely show up in the middle panel, Most Recent Unsuccessful Attempt. That panel is for "try again later" responses, as opposed to Bounces which are flat-out rejections.

Shal
(The latter is called greylisting, and I despise email services that persistently use it against a legit service like Groups.io.)

Re: #addmembers #subgroups #direct #addmembers #subgroups #direct

communications,

How do I add members of a parent group to a sub group?
...
What if I want to add a few of them, is there a quick way to do this?
In addition to what Duane said, another technique I've used is to put the members' addresses into the Direct Add page of the primary group, and check mark the desired subgroup(s) to add them to. You'll get a harmless error message for each of them because they are already in the primary group, but the subgroup adds will happen anyway.

They won't get any You've been added or Welcome notices for the primary group, but they will for the subgroup(s) you've added them too.

This is a useful technique if you have a large membership in the primary group and you use an external database or spreadsheet to manage the memberships. I find it far more convenient than trying to find and check mark them manually in the Subgroups page. All I have to do is use a select or sort in the external program to identify the specific members, then copy/paste or export their addresses.

To enhance communications, I recommend adding a Display Name to your profile.

Groups.io site updates #changelog

Hi all,

This week's change log:

Feel free to reply to this topic if you'd like to comment on the
changes. Or better yet, if you expect a lot of discussion start a new
topic (or rejoin an existing one) about a specific change.

CHANGE: Switchover to the new Help Center, with finalized Owners and
Members manuals and FAQ.
This was announced in GMF by Robert R.:
/g/GroupManagersForum/message/31065

Comments about these others are also welcome:

INTERNAL: Work to investigate which technologies to use for the app.
BUGFIX: Misc improvements to formatting of the mobile website.
NEW: (Re)launched the Zoom calendar integration.
BUGFIX: The left chevron icon in the photo view was not vertically
aligned correctly.
BUGFIX: Paging backwards in the Emailed Photos photo viewer stopped
working if you paged back at the first photo.
API: Fixed pagination bugs with /getevents endpoint.
CHANGE: Adjusted the size and alignment of the lines separating a
group's footer from the rest of the message footer information.
BUGFIX: When creating a new plain text wiki page, the page would
internally be marked as being HTML, so on future edits the HTML
editor would be used.

Please call out any you find significant.

Did you verify her delivery choice on the Members List?? If it's correct, I'd try changing it to something else, save, then back to the original, and save again.? I've seen a couple of other glitches when someone changes their email address and this may be another one.

Problem with an email address change

A member had to change her email within the group. She went through Account on the group home page. I've checked to be sure the change went through, and it did. The member's section has her listed with the new email address.

I've also checked the manual for what to do, and she says everything happened as stated in the manual.

However, she's not receiving any group mail. Does anybody know what might be wrong?

Thanks,
Linda

Yes, it's up to the member whether they want to share a profile.? BTW, they can have a different one for each group, including the photo.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'decent', but "For premium/enterprise groups on annual billing, we now send out a courtesy reminder two weeks before billing them.",

Also... I recall months back there was talk of possibly moving to a system where member numbers would factor into how you're charged. Has anything been decided on that, or has there been any other pricing type changes decided on?
The new plan/pricing information went into effect on January 15.? As of now, Mark has removed the number of members from pricing consideration, but did remove the ability for Basic groups created after that date to have subgroups.

Re: Question on payment due and new pricing

It was hinted at but then tabled.

If we force groups to go to premium after a membership limit is
reached, there will be a mass exodus from this platform to other ones.
I doubt it will happen, but we shall have to wait and see.

The Directory and Member list are two distinct things.

In the Directory, members will only see those that have shared their profile, and then only when they share their own.

For the Members List, as of January 31, "CHANGE: A group that is not restricted can no longer have Members Visible set to Subscribers, unless it is a subgroup and the parent group is restricted. This is prevent email address harvesting."?

Duane

Got it, thanks, Duane.

Reviewing my settings view, it doesn't seem possible for me as an Owner to set the sharing on for each member, they have to do that themselves, correct?

Best,

Glenn

Trouble with members viewing directory

Glenn Glazer

When I, as the owner, go to the Directory tab, I see all members.

When a plain member does, they see only five (about a tenth of everyone).

My settings look like this:

When I try to change the Member List Visibility to Members, it rejects the change and goes back to Owners and Moderators.

Suggestions greatly appreciated.

Best,

Glenn

Okay, I'll take a stab at it.

Is this using webmail? If so, this looks like the dreaded "missing blob" error. Usually it's caused by a mail server disk failure or other read error from your mail provider. On the rare occasions that this happens to me, I usually just ignore the problem and after a few hours I come back and voila' -- they've fixed it. If that doesn't happen within a reasonable timeframe, contact your provider and complain.

If it's happening with an offline mail client, you may have accidentally deleted the local file/folder containing the spam emails. Reconnect with your provider and do a mail refresh and that will probably fix it.

Hope this helps,
Bruce?

You may not have searched high (or low) enough. ;>)? On your main group, go to Admin > Subgroups.? There you'll see a list of your members with a checkbox next to each for each subgroup.? Select those properly, then click Update at the bottom of the page.? You can do all the selections on the various pages, if more than one, then do the Update.

#addmembers #subgroups #direct #addmembers #subgroups #direct

How do I add members of a parent group to a sub group? I have searched high and low.
Is there an easy way for me to direct add them to a sub group? Can I check their name in the parent group and add them to the sub group?
What if I want to add a few of them, is there a quick way to do this?
Thank you!

Re: Yahoo blocking groups io email? #email

It's been happening sporadically to all email providers that were assimilated by Yahoo (aol.com, etc...) for over a year.

The last two in my lists were Yahoo mail about the same as in the past few months.

That seems to happen at random.? Y! may change something in their spam routine and more messages get misdirected to the spam folder.? If members aren't paying attention and moving those from GIO to their Inbox, the next time Y! automatically empties the spam folder, the problem occurs.? I seriously doubt that it's intentional.
