That's correct...it only deletes the invitation.

Question about Sent Invitations

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Maybe a silly question, but deleting someone from the list of Sent Invitations will not delete them from the group, correct?? I'm new to Groups.io and don't want to inadvertently delete members who actually want to belong to our group.

Thank you to all of the moderators here who have been keeping up with answering so many questions.

Alan -- If you can download them to your PC, you could then upload them to your group's files area. At that point you could edit each of the affected messages to include a link to those files. But that's the best you can do. There is no attachment icon on the message edit toolbar, thus no way to "reattach the attachments."

The following is a YG help question, but perhaps you would indulge ?
?- How can one see how much storage space one is using on YG ?
Go to your group and click on Files. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page. You will find something to the effect of "Using XX.X MB of maximum 200 MB"
Now click on Photos, followed by Albums. At the top of the page this time, you will find something to the effect of "Using YY.Y MB of maximum 100 GB. ZZZ photos uploaded so far."

Adding XX.X and YY.Y will get you a rough estimate.

Can you share how you got it done with PG4?

Now the story gets even worse!? Our groups is the 2nd largest tractor membership on Yahoo.? JD only beats us out.? But there are 4 other related groups as well, created by our SAME owner!? Thus, we are now transferring all 5 groups over into 1 larger one.

Wild, eh?? PGOffline has been the useful tool getting all of this data to one place, reviewed, structured and then ready to upload into Groups.io.?

We are very pleased with the PG4 folks.? It's helped a great deal.? To do the regular Groups.io transfer would have been crazy for all the groups into one and the cost burden too.? Then the complications with not just the transfer, but the merging too.?

Other than our group over there, 2 of the others are on full auto-pilot because the mods left a long while back too.

SOOOOOOOO,? YES, it's good to have the ability to transfer ownership or allow a mod to step up and take over when the time for a change of guard happens.?

By including the full address for it on this group (readable by the public), you've also made it visible to any of the search engines that scan this site.? You may want to edit your post and remove that link.
As Bruce said, anyone that knows (or can guess) the group name can see the home page.? I'm not sure you want to leave your Guidelines and Wiki publicly visible either.

Re: Best way to follow a topic?

A member is reading the latest posts by clicking on the Messages tab and then on a topic. She is reading a thread in a topic.

She decides to subscribe to the topic.
In the email footer, there is a Follow link - if you have the Advanced Preferences activated.
It does bring you to a web-based link that you must click.

Perhaps she would prefer to do one of a few other options.
- She could subscribe to Daily Summary.?
- or if she wants no email at all, subscribe to Special Notices (I like to disable No Mail, but that's up to the group owner.) Then she goes to Groups.io (logged in) and clicks on Groups.io and looks at Feed.

Feed is amazing - it gives you just the subject of recent posts (nested by topic) and any upcoming events.
Try it yourself. No changes needed. Just go to Groups.io and click on Feed.

However the only other suggestion is to create subgroups. That are always on topic!

Are you saying she has to leave the message, climb out to Groups.io and then Topics and then find the topic?!

Tom -- Well yes, or at least climb out of the Message view, as you put it.

I'm surprised that the footer of the web view of a message doesn't have this option. It only has "Reply" and "Like" and "More"

The web experience within a group is only somewhat customizable, and is based solely on the settings for that group. What you propose would require the "footer" (for lack of a better term) of the web view of messages to be dynamically rendered based on an individual subscriber's Advanced Preferences.

To this point, that level of granularity in the web display has not been implemented. Maybe we'll see something like that when the groups.io app is eventually rolled out.

Bruce

Re: My Welcome letter available to use as a template

Eric,

Which one would Shal's message go in.

The two examples on that wiki page are different examples of the same thing: wording you might consider putting into a Member Notice of type Welcome just before the transfer starts (anytime before stage 4).

After the transfer completes you would probably want to change the text to be more appropriate for members joining the group under normal conditions, or just uncheck the Active box on that one, and make a second Welcome notice to be Active during normal times.

We are down to about 15 groups ahead of us. I've deleted all the test messages and wait with a worm on my tongue. (Old Compuserv saying)

Yup, baited (bated) breath.

But with so few remaining this reply will likely reach you too late.

Attachments from Yahoo, Storage capacity #yahoo

Dear Mods.

First of all, a big thank-you for the fantastic guidance and help on this forum which helped us gain a smooth transition to Groups.io from YahooG.

We were warned that "Attachments" would not be transferred from YG -
? - Is there a way to move those attachments manually either directly from YG to Groups.io, or from my PC to Groups.io ?

The following is a YG help question, but perhaps you would indulge ?
?- How can one see how much storage space one is using on YG ?

By going to "Billing" I have been able to see how much storage space we are using in Groups.io.

Thanks in advance

Ah; your group /is/ publicly listed; it is this one
</g/antiqueradios>, and is the second one in the search
return that I linked in my previous post.

However, this has revealed another bit of weirdness in the way the A - Z
list of groups is set out. By way of example the "A" list sets out all
the groups with an upper case A first, and once it has exhausted those
it starts again with a list starting with a /lower/ case a. It is not
truly alphabetical; this may be something for beta once the hue and cry
has subsided.

Re: Best way to follow a topic?

Hi

Go to Subscription in group home page. Menu on the left.
Scroll down to Advanced Preferences. Open by going to the arrow on the right.

In email footers there is a Follow.

More in the GMF wiki.

Like many here, I'm a bit overwhelmed by boxes to fill in as templates. Which one would Shal's message go in. I like it very much but am afraid of using it as the wrong template and thus being a bit confusing when it appears in context to a new user..

Frances,

The member moderation line was a carryover from Yahoo groups. You are right - removing it is a good idea.?The line about SCARS is there to promote membership in our radio club, not to join the forum. It can see how that may be confusing, though ...I'll work on it :)

[Mod Note: This is just an artifact of the sorting algorithm, capital letters come before lower-case in the ASCII digital representation.]
