Re: #transfer

Rick,
a) I now have 1000+ members that are set to Moderated after firstUse the feature as it was intended: wait until a member posts, and then approve his/her message. That will unmoderate him/her automatically, depending on your group's Unmoderate After selection. This minimizes your effort, and defers it until needed. And, because you can approve messages using the web or by email (reply to the Message Approval Needed notice), it is something you can do whichever way is easiest for you at the moment. Lurkers who don't post don't take up any of your time. b) I don't want new users to be moderated. Is there a path to this? You must choose (at least) one of the boxes in the Spam Control section of your group's Settings page. So if not New Users Moderated, Restricted Membership is your next most likely choice. Like approving messages, you can approve membership requests by web or email, whichever is most convenient at the moment. I want people to be able to join, and then not be moderated. That wasBoth unrestricted and unmoderated is not an option here. It may not have been a problem for your Yahoo Group, but many Yahoo Groups were overrun by spammers when their admins stopped paying attention. Groups.io does not want that happening here. Similarly, if I want to change the moderation setting for allmembers, > I don't appear to be able to select all, just 20 at a time? You can change the number of members per page, up to 100, using the Items Per Page setting on the Preferences in your Account. There is an "Infinite Scroll" option for that setting, but others have reported problems with that choice on some pages, so I don't recommend it. Maximum number of groups?
I've been manually creating new groups within Groups.io as part of a transition from Yahoo! Groups.
I have around 50 Groups in Yahoo! I've managed to create 20 groups within Groups.io, however I don't seem to be able to go beyond this. Is there a cap on how many Groups.io an individual can create? |

Also, How do I get a copy of the invite that went out, so I can verifyI have a spare email address that I include in every batch of Invites (or Direct Adds). I remove the address from the group later. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

I'm one of the many who have moved from Yahoo Groups.
a) I now have 1000+ members that are set to Moderated after first post. Unmoderating them one at a time seems .. painful, so there has to be a better way? b) I don't want new users to be moderated. Is there a path to this? I want people to be able to join, and then not be moderated. That was a choice for us in Yahoo Groups, and it was never a problem. thanks! |
Re: Posting my group link
GMF guidelines say:
Solicitations are off topic and will be deleted without comment. Listing your groups in your signature is perfectly acceptable, but just make sure there's also on-topic content in your post. So, sorry, you can't just post about your group here. Look at this thread about growing a group. /g/GroupManagersForum/message/12 And see also - in?Admin, Promote page. Since we didn't use Database, I didn't transfer it.? It was disabled.? Enabling it displayed all the Links, which had transferred.? Sounds like a bug to me. Disable Database disables links and that's not stated anywhere prior to the Transfer process.

I want to reinvite folks with a new message.
If I set up the invites page with a customized message, then switch to the Sent Invitations page and resend to all (with only those not accepted on the list), will it use the customized message I selected?? ?When I go back to the invites page, customized message is no longer showing.? Shal, you may be right.? ?After around 7 emails from her, the last one said she got confirmation.??
I just got the Subscription Approval needed email, also.? Whew!?? I feel like I've wasted your time with so much going on, but I was really out of my league.? So, thank you for your fast responses, and so glad things worked out for her.?? Jan Smith |
Re: Many complaining post not going through
Hi
Have you checked Activity? Go to Admin, Activity. You can also check for a specific member through Member in Admin. Click on anywhere, but not the checkbox.? And as Shal just mentioned to someone else, Another possibility is that her email service is delaying delivery of the confirmation notices as an anti-spam measure.

Question about donations: does donor need a Stripe account?
Friends,
Now that my little group got transferred today I'd like to figure out how to use GIO's donations feature for Premium accounts.? Several of my members have said they regret that I'm out of pocket (though to the tune of just $110...I beat the price hike!) for our switch. Here's my question:? the donations page (pasted below) says "in order to accept donations, you will need to have a Stripe account."? Fine, I'll need one; but does the donor need one too?? Frankly I'm guessing "yes."? I expect that PayPal and frumpy old checks will be more popular with my membership, which is okay.? Thanks in advance for your help. You can ask for donations from your group. Here's what you need to know:
