I thought as moderators we'd have an "Add a member" feature here at groups.io?
Most of us present or ex yahoo moderators lamented the loss of the "add members" feature at yahoogroups when Yahoo removed it.
I thought when I decided to move one group here from yahoo that there was going to be a add-members feature here (not just "invite.") Am I remembering incorrectly? Or can someone tell me where to find it? Alex -- {This message was sent with 100% recycled electrons} |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThank you Bruce I get it now. After I went to General settings I changed old name¡±The-Diabetic-corner-With-Sugar¡± to new name¡± BlindDiabetics4Jesus¡± Then after the general name underneath there is subject edit field that I also changed to (BlindDiabetics4Jesus) TheURL was automatically changed and I got that as well. So far there is nothing that is updated to the file section and that part of settings is disabled for now. No pictures allowed either. I don¡¯t think uploading on the file section will occur but if there is a issue I will come back here. Thank you so much I appreciate all the advice and suggestions. Exporting the group before changing the name was a wise move! There could be some problems that you haven't run into yet. I will give you an example... When you upload a file, there's an opportunity to post a notice to the group. The notice subject will say something like "New file uploaded to [email protected]."?The message will contain other references to the group name, including a link to the file: "You can access this file at the URL: /g/groupname/files/filename.pdf (or whatever)" Groups.io will not parse these messages and update "groupname" to "newgroupname." So the message Subject will still refer to the old group name, as will the link...if someone now clicks on it, they will get a "404 file not found" error. Similarly, if you have manually inserted links to "groupname" content in a database, home page, or [especially] your wiki, you may find many of them to be broken. Links between items as accessed through the groups.io menu system, however, should still work. Depending on how you use your group, such things may or may not be a big concern. Just be on the lookout for it. Regards, Bruce -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |

I actually don't think that's true at all.? I'm pretty sure that even if you use a 'strange' computer, would still send an email to your registered email address. Sugar Lopez == [GMF] still looking for an answer
Ellen
Hi Sugar
You could just make a new group .. have everyone join it. Then, delete the original group. I had to do this when 2 members complained the original address was too similar to another one they had and they were deleting mail by mistake. Mine is a very small group also.

I'm with Shal.? I have accounts in other places where I don't need to use a password but am identified by other means.??
If you search for "login" you will find more than one dictionary definition that indicates, nothing about using a password but does say to enter your identity to be allowed to use a system. In the case of Groups.io, when you ask groups.io to send you a link to log in, the system identifies you automatically and sends you the link.? If you were to? use a 'strange' computer where you had never used your groups.io subscription, you would not receive a response. -- Bob Bellizzi Founder, Fuchs Friends?? |

Sugar, Bruce replied. With a link. He also says be careful!
/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Renaming-a-Group If depends what you are trying to achieve. Our travel group wanted a name change but decided really what we wanted was a better display name in the public groups directory - although our group is private. So create a subgroup with the name you want. Add a description that says that this is a subgroup of <your actual group name>. Edit the description in the homepage of the subgroup with a hyperlink to your actual main group, inviting people to click and visit to join. See?/g/TRAVEL-ZINE Linda, founder of the Zine figured this out. Smart lady! Frances -- /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki /static/help More help: use the search button at the top of the Messages list. |

Re: Logging In and Setting a password
Chris,
I know the following comment can be seen as an exercise in pedantryNot only pedantry, but IMO flat-out wrong. There's no difference between having logged in using a password versus using a login link by email. They do exactly the same thing: set a login cookie in your browser. While the means are different, I wouldn't want language that implies that using a login link leaves you not logged in, or somehow differently logged in. That would just lead to confusion. Or at least to unnecessary concern and questioning. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Michael,
I get a "Gmail return" for all posts to our io.groups forum, includingWhat do you mean by a "Gmail return"? I am having the same issue. Are you sure? The warning we've been talking about has a screenshot here: /g/GroupManagersForum/message/13433 Is that what you mean by a "return"? Or something else?
