Go to the Upgrade page (the last one in the Admin group) and click the View/Change Plan button. You'll be shown a list of choices with descriptions of each. You can pay by the month with automatic renewal until you cancel, you can pay for just one month with no automatic renewal, or you can take a one-month discount by paying for a year in advance.

Also once I pay for the group how do I add a member back after a member is removed for spam.

You'll have a new Direct Add page in your Admin group.-- it works much like Invite, but the member doesn't have to accept anything. The member will be notified that you added them. Twice if you have a Welcome member notice active in your group settings.

Thanks. Is the support still by email or will there be a phone to call?

Still by email: [email protected] (the same one).

Re: pay for group

When you upgrade, your credit card will be billed each month (monthly) or year (yearly) until you cancel.
If you just want to try out Premium, I'd go Monthly.
Only Enterprise gets Premium Support but not sure what that means.
However, switching to the Premium plan won't help with the Removed for Spam problem?that you posted about, as far as I know.
When groups.io unsubscribes a member due to a Spam Report, it is because groups.io received a message that said "this person does not want to receive email from this group".? Therefore, the only way groups.io will start sending email for that group to that person again is if that person clicks the link in the notice they got (or perhaps if they send an email to [email protected]) so that groups.io knows that the member actually does want to receive email from the group.? To allow the group owner to resubscribe the member would defeat the purpose of the mechanism (people that really didn't want to get the email could be resubscribed without their permission).??
All of us owner/mods are familiar with the problem and the only resolution is for the member (possibly with your help) to take action as described in the wiki article.
Thanks
Toby

Re: members being removed

Anita,

I did read the wiki. Not even sure what that is. I dont have that on my group.

You don't need to enable the Wiki feature in your group, or copy anything. You can just post the link to GMF's wiki page on the subject - our wiki is public so that anyone can read it without needing to log in to Groups.io or to join GMF.
By paying I can add the members back myself and they dont have to leave or get upset. My other owner and I are thinking about paying.

What Chris said. Mark's purpose in this mechanism is to reduce the number of Groups.io messages that end up treated as spam. If your members don't learn to take care of this then it will just be an ongoing nuisance.

Well that is certainly true, but by not drawing your members' attention to what they might (inadvertently) be doing to cause the problem in the first place it will simply keep on happening.

You also said "I don't have that on my group". There is nothing to stop you from having it; it is there for the greater understanding on the part of all Groups.io subscribers via their group owners and moderators. Simply copy and paste it into your own group wiki, and draw your members' attention to it. If it stops them from deleting messages incorrectly identified as spam from their spam folders then something worthwhile will have been achieved.

Hi,

You can set it up so that it¡¯ll be billed to you as recurring monthly payments.

As for adding back a member, this can be done via direct add (premium and enterprise).

Cheers,

Joseph (who owns one such premium group)

I just want to know the procedure of how to add someone back.

Chris thanks. My members are older and really don't know how to add themselves back or prevent this. I did read the wiki. Not even sure what that is. I dont have that on my group.

Thanks, Duane. I checked, and they're not. I'll try more tomorrow and see what happens.

Re: Hiding files from other than moderators #question

Tom,

I have a file which only the moderators need to access.? Is there a way to "hide" a file so it can only be seen by the moderators? ?

No, but a Database table has that option. If the info in that file is basically tabular, or could be fit into a tabular structure, that could work ok. Not so good if the file is mostly prose or requires specific formatting.

I wish Wiki pages had that option, but all they have is the ability to make them mod-only edits.

Otherwise I concur with the idea of a subgroup. My PTA group has a subgroup for the board members, and we keep files there that contain things like contact info that shouldn't be available to all unit members.

Re: Hiding files from other than moderators #question

We set up a separate restricted group for Monderators and our Mentors.
I think subgroups may get too confusing for those less experienced and they might put something meant for a subgroup into the main group.
A separate main group is free and totally avoids that possibility.
Besides, you can experiment with that group.

Re: messages not being sent or received in my group this morning.

The only thing I can think of would be to check the group to make sure your posts aren't being stored as drafts (it will show a number on the left menu next to Drafts.)? If they are, either you didn't hit Send or there was a glitch that saved them as drafts.

We use a subgroup for our moderators and keep our private files there.

In my old YG group I used a similar system: I would send a message to the group and then point members to a folder in the Files Section where I stored all materials that I could not send as an attachment. It was a tortuous way and after a while I gave up.

I'll follow your suggestion and mention this possible new feature in Beta.

Re: messages not being sent or received in my group this morning.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I posted them from the group website. When I later sent one by email it went through. The ones posted from the site never did.

I'd like to be able to send occasional attachments, but I don't want all members to have the same permission.
There is currently no such setting, but it sounds like a good suggestion for beta.?

I have set my group to "moderate attachments", but this is a bit of a nuisance because I have to approve my own attachments.

Having Links mixed in with our Interactive Databases is a total mess and going to cause a lot of our elderly not so computer savvie members a lot of anguish.
There is currently no way to create a "new" menu entry at left for your Links.?Groups.io is not a Yahoo clone, and there are a number of instances where your subscribers will have to learn to click somewhere else.

Probably your best option is to put the links in a wiki page and make that page "sticky" so it also appears at the top of the Messages section. Option #2 is to just insert them into your home page. Option #3 is to create a links Member Notice and send that to your subscribers periodically.

Hope this helps,

Some members list as many hashtags as possible thinking they'll show up in every search. Or they're too lazy to think about it.
Have you simply tried asking them to stop it? It might help; after all to be an Owner or Moderator means having to accept responsibility for keeping order, and sometimes that means taking a firm line. Persistent offenders can always have the prospect of moderation being applied.

On another level do you allow members to create hashtags or do you limit that capability to Moderators? If the former, then I would suggest considering the latter, followed by a clear out of some or all of the sillier ones that members have created. I suspect (but have no means of proving) that there is a "maximum sensible number" of meaningful hashtags, but I also suspect that the actual number may be different for different groups and their underlying purpose.

Re: messages not being sent or received in my group this morning.

My guess is that your email provider hasn't sent them to the site yet.? (You'll only know for sure when they finally arrive and you can check the headers.)
