I don't want my subscribers bothered with GIO system details either. In practice, it has not been a problem.

There is a hashtag option called "No Email." I suspect Mark has that enabled for the #changelog tag in the Updates group.

Re: Using BCC to Moderators

As I am new to groups.io, take this with a grain of salt, but I am having OUTLOOK issues with all posts I send to our +owners address. Outlook will send the message to my JUNK folder even if sender & recipient are declared as safe, yet if another owner sends the same email to the +owners address I receive it properly in my INBOX or the proper redirected folder.

Could it be your Bcc is being automatically deleted by your mailer?

Mine got approved in about 30 seconds.

Settings to change the order of files and databases

Hi, everyone,

?

I can search for files, members and databases either alphabetically or by date of arrival, but I cannot set it so it stays changed, a setting I was used to have in yg. Maybe I just haven?t found it yet¡.

Hello,

Just curious, just transferred (went terrifically!:). ? Am seeing a number of folks unsubscribing, which is ok, but wondering if these are automatic from transfer identified bouncing members, or just folks who don¡¯t wish to make the move?

i know I could probably tediously check, but thought it might just be automatic, and would ask here first:).
Thanks, a happy new group owner,

Why do you think they want to stay?

I wouldn¡¯t send anything else to the old list. It may be confusing people. They have all been transferred, right? Have they unsubscribed?

My lists always go silent when something happens ¡ª when I post a reminder to be nice, avoid characterizations, etc. It¡¯s a fear of doing something wrong.

I would just keep sending helpful messages to the new list.

Re: Are all group members automatically added to updates group? #addmembers

Having all members as web-only readers is probably fine. But I see
"Single" as the delivery option.

If no one ever gets an email, that's fine. If they are interested in
updates, they can go and look.

I wish the transfer form made it clear that the checkbox applies to
ALL future members of that group, not just to the group owner.

I think Mark would prefer that most people be in the Updates group in case
there's some system-wide event or problem, so he can then contact them via a
Special Notice.

Is anyone else receiving weekly emails from the Updates group? I can't
recall ever getting one. If I want to view the change log, I have to
proactively go to that group page and read it.

Re: I am ALONE HELP! [after transfer from YahooGroups]

It is possible that things did not transfer because they were not available at Yahoo at that time. The last time (before we moved) Yahoo "lost" my files and photos - and yes, it looked just like you are describing: nothing there - it took about 10 days for them to show up again. It may have nothing to do with the transfer, whole sections of Y!G just disappear and reappear randomly. :(

Re: I am ALONE HELP! [after transfer from YahooGroups]

I was going to suggest something similar, it sounds like Dash might be subscribed to the group with two different accounts. One where they are a owner/moderator and one where they are just a member. Just a suggestion.

There is a thread on this at?/g/GroupManagersForum/topic/14625793#6026?.??The bottom line is that you can't trust the image display; you have to actually download the saved image and check the size offline to be sure of what that setting is doing.?

Also keep in mind this is MAX size. If the image you originally sent is smaller than the limit in its longest dimension, no resizing will be done.

Hope this helps,

Re: How long before transfer of Yahoo Group?

I am having the same problem.
I created the groups.io group. ? no subgroup involved.?
I clicked the Start New Trasfer button
I sent an invite to my Yahoo group from the Yahoo group invite panel to [email protected]
4 days later [email protected]?accepted the invitation. ?That was Tuesday. ?It's now Friday.
I made [email protected] a moderator on my Yahoo group.?
I was expecting an email directing me to make the?[email protected]?member a moderator. ?That hasn't arrived. ?Perhaps I moved to early?
I expected the In Process selection to offer something other than a "-". ?
What do I do next??

Re: Help with Removal of Email IO Group Links

Just discovered something new!! ?Hopefully this will help you, Mystic - in the settings section, under privacy, if you choose "mask all email addresses in the web archives", it seems to remove all verbiage that you're trying to get rid of. ?This appears instead....at least for me!!!...as clickable links but the individual addresses are gone:

?Groups.io Links:
You receive all messages sent to this group.

We're using a group only to send notices out to our volunteers via email, and there's no need for anyone (other than moderators) to see all the postings. ? Is there some setting that would accomplish that??
You can kinda accomplish this with hashtags. Create a hashtag with the name of your choice. Click the "use by Mods only" box and set Topic Duration to one hour (or one day, or whatever appeals to you).?

After that time period each post with that hashtag will be deleted from the message archive...however, it will delete it for everybody, including the Moderators. Like Shal, I know of no way to keep it on the site while hiding it from the other subscribers.

You also have to remember to insert the hashtag every time. This can be enforced as follows:? Go to Admin->Settings->Message Policies and click on both "Require Hashtags" and "Only Moderators Can Create Hashtags." If you only have one hashtag established, then it's the only one that will be used.

Hope this helps,
Bruce

Re: Subscribers with more than one email address.

Mary Emerson

Sharon,

To answer your question, I'm going through a situation where someone has two accounts with the same name, but with different email addresses. I find that the older account has dominance; if I unsubscribe the older account, the newer one takes over for a few minutes, but then the older one takes over. When the older account is deleted, the newer, and preferred one, will become the permanent account.

Re: Creating a Subgroup Changes the Email Address of the Main Group? #subgroups #changing

Yes the old email "posting" address still works. However the messages delivered will now come from "main" or whatever you choose to rename the main group. So there is a small possibility your members will be confused or that their own email filters will need changing.?

E.g., I received a digest message from?[email protected]?<[email protected]>, where the original email was simply?[email protected]?<[email protected]>

Re: can I make a group "email only"?

It's unnecessary for the members to see the message archives. ?We're sending out one-time volunteer opportunities via email, they respond via email if they're interested and, once the opportunity is "taken", there's no need for anyone to see it further. ?

Re: Using BCC to Moderators

Yvette Money

Result of my test of "Bcc Me" :? I wrote a simple message to the main group (all of our messages are moderated) that did not contain any word about trials or testing just in case.? I then Rejected the message and clicked on "Bcc Me" and "Bcc all Moderators".? I got the original notification that my message had been rejected but no others.? By clicking on "Bcc Me" and "Bcc all Moderators" I should get 3 messages about this, shouldn't I since it was my own message that was rejected???

In the Moderators section, under Notifications, I already have "email when someone reports a message" checked so I guess that doesn't help either.

Bruce, I have gone into the members section and clicked on moderators as requested.? Under notifications, what choice might allow the "BCC to moderators" through?? I am thinking "Email when someone reports a message" ?? ?None of the other choices look like they might help.

To answer the question about whether I used the "BCC to moderators" online or through my own email - it was online.? I never do anything through my own email and always go to the group website when dealing with anything to do with the group.

One choice I have never tried is "BCC to myself" because I was trying to notify the rest of the moderators of my actions regarding a member's message so I don't know if that feature works on our site. I felt that "BCC to Moderators" would be enough to send me a message as well but it didn't send a message to myself or any of the other moderators.? I will try rejecting one of my own messages and send a "BCC to myself" and see if I get anything.? I won't put the word "Test" in it so that there are no chances of rejection through using the word (as was suggested in one of the replies).

If this is a bug,, I can understand it not working correctly and hope it can be fixed soon.? If it isn't, I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction to fix it for my group and possibly others that are experiencing the same issue.
Thanks,
?
