Re: New member introduction
Thanks. I understand what you're saying and it does make sense for many groups. However we are a friendly club for local/regional members only. So, we also use the introduction to filter out people that are not in our area. Our website has instructions on how to introduce yourself and what to include that pertains to the club.
Part of it is just the club's philosophy on becoming a part of this group of friends. The introduction is needed before "listening" to the conversation.? I have not tried this but I think it is possible to reply to a request to join, so maybe we could send a reply asking for them to respond with an introduction before being added. Ideally we could customize and automate the initial response to requests.? Thanks again for the suggestion.? Jim? |
Messages not always emailed

I created a message to my trial group. The first time I posted it, the message showed up in my site message list, but did not go out as an email. I have set that topics must include a hashtag, and in the first iteration, I added the hashtag behind the subject. That post required me to approve it, which I did. It came up in my messages, but without a corresponding email to members.
When I reposted the message placing the hashtag at the front of the subject, the post and email went through correctly to all members. Must the hashtag come first, before the subject? -- Norm |

Thanks, Shal. Those issues didn't bother me, I just wanted to have some reasoning when I told the user I can't change them. Thanks! ? Bryan J. Re: photo albums
Nancy in Renton
Of all my photo album dreams, moving between albums rank right up there. Comments is the other one.
Our plan is to have a New Photos?album in the meantime. I¡¯d say probably to be deleted after a week (or month). People will load 2 photos - the same photo in it and their personal album. One of our monitors loads photos into her personal album with a title starting from 999. (Like 999 front view, 998 back view, 997 top view). That way her most recent picture is first in her album. E-mail Addresses and Footer
Hello, The second complaint I got was about the default footer. It doesn't bother me, but it bothered someone enough to complain. Is there a way to remove it or shorten it? Or is it a default that can't be changed? |
New member introduction
Our group is fairly new to groups.io and it's a *huge? improvement over Yahoo, which we used since it's early days.?
?We have a requirement that when someone joins our list they must first send an introduction email about themselves. ?This was a clunky multi step process with yahoo groups and I am looking for a better way. With Yahoo we required an ?introduction email to be sent to a separate email address and also the user ?had to request to join or be sent an invitation. ?It caused a lot of confusion. ?Once we received the introduction email and the user has joined the group ?The moderator would send the introduction to the entire group.? ?Does anyone have an idea of how we might smooth out this process using groups.io? Thanks for any ideas.? Jim? |

Re: photo albums
jackiep,
That's the official Groups.io TO-DO list. It isn't exactly helpful except to let us know what features might be chosen for development. So in this case it offers the hope that you'll be able to move photos between albums sometime in the unspecified future.

Re: files
Fannces, I thought you could send a notice on a set date. Not the Member Notices (except the special case of monthly for the Guidelines). But you can use a calendar event to get the same effect (if not the same appearance). ? I added it to the wiki but of course, J, please edit if I am wrong! Or add the new bit about using the calendar. ? ShalEdited. Included links to my tip on using calendar events. |
Re: Length of time to transfer group
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThree weeks ago it was four days.? Right now for my second YG list it has been 6 days since [email protected] was invited; [email protected] was made a moderator with? 30 minutes of accepting the invitation and now we are waiting in the queue.? If there are YG database issues or a temporary halt like several days ago it can be a week ago.? The number of requests has increased dramatically in the last three weeks.? AS a result formerly quick and easy things like the YG invite to [email protected] was just a few minutes to acceptance but this week has increased to five days or more for some. Best advice is to get in queue now.? Just three weeks ago moving a group seemed iffy; it's gotten worse lately. ken "It has always seemed strange to me," said Doc. Oh, I see what you mean. I'm guessing that's because the person who uploaded it has a blank display name. You can check their member page and see if it is. On Wed, Feb 14, 2018 at 3:08 PM, Tammi McKinley, CPM <tammi@...> wrote:
