Groups.io needs some way to show who sent the message. Since there is no account identifier other than the email address, and given that some subscribers choose not to set a Display Name, I don't see an alternative.
Because of this and the EU GDPR regulations I have had to close the

Note that Yahoo groups also puts the email address in the From field of the message header. So you won't be able to use that, either. I don't recall what Google Groups does. I hope you find an alternative that meets your needs.
I can confirm that Google Groups also has the sender's email address in the From header.
These are all *email* services - what does the OP expect them to do?
Perhaps he should start a Facebook group, or use forum software.
