Bruce,
Well written. I think the roups.io management should post this on one of their pages.

Here is the process. It is not automated and will take several days. Do not do anything out of order.
- Go here:?/
- At the bottom of the page, you'll find a link that says "Easy Group Transfer." Click it.
- Scroll to the bottom of the subsequent page and click on the big blue button labelled "Yahoo Group Instructions."
- Read the instructions carefully. Bookmark this page, too. You will come back here several times
- Create your groups.io group according to your needs. (Step 0 of the instructions)
- Once you have your groups.io group set up, return to the bookmarked page. Click on the big green button at the bottom that says "Start New Transfer."
- Enter the name of your Yahoo group and the name of your groups.io group. Do NOT enter any domain information (i.e.: leave off @yahoogroups.com or @yahoogroups.co.uk), just the group names.
- Click the big green "Start Group Transfer Process" button at the bottom of the page. (You have now completed Step 1 of the instructions)
- Go to your YAHOO GROUP (not your groups.io group) and log in. Send a membership invitation to "[email protected]." (You have now completed Step 2 of the instructions)
- BE PATIENT. Accepting the invitation could take several days, and requires human intervention (it requires solving a CAPTCHA).?You DID send the invitation from your Yahoo group, didn't you?
- You will eventually receive an email stating that the membership has been accepted. (You have now completed Step 3 of the instructions)
- Return to your YAHOO GROUP and log in. Promote "[email protected]" to a Moderator.
- Now return to the groups.io page that you bookmarked in #4 above. Pull down the menu at bottom right and select the group you're ready to transfer. Tell groups.io to start the transfer. (You have now completed Step 4 of the instructions)
- BE PATIENT. The ability to actually do the transfer depends on how well Yahoo's servers are operating. We all know what that means, right?
- BE EVEN MORE PATIENT.?You may notice activity in your new groups.io group, which may reflect partial completion of the process. Do not obsess about this.?
- When the transfer is done, you will receive an email from the transfer agent summarizing what it was able to transfer. It will also list whatever things it was?not?able to transfer. Until this email is received, you aren't done yet.
- Rejoice.
Hope this helps,
Bruce
