No, the Private button does not show, but the following takes its place.
When using an email program or WEBmail a big footer is added to messages.
It contains ten hot links. Seven take you back to the Group WEBsite.
Three are mailto hyperlinks.
The first (for example) is "View/Reply Online with the message number".
The third is "Reply to Sender".
Clicking that sets up the following mailto hyperlink.
mailto: (the sender) + Subject = Private + RE: + GroupName + Subject
That brings up your system assigned email program and will allow a Private
message to be sent.
Hope all that makes sense.
Summary: There is no button, but it can still be done.

Thank you for your reply. Many of the group members are repying using their
email programs. Does the Private button show up then? All of us are using
screen readers because we are blind and I do not recall seeing that button.
