The system with unsubsribing is designed in order to get rid of stupid members who do mark messages as spam instead of unsubscribing (don't presume that you well know every member). Each marking harms groups.io reputation for spam filtering and causes more messages diverted to Spam or bounced.

Unsubscribing is right.

We will have to agree to disagree. I know "the system with unsubscribing is designed" and it's a kluge. My group members are in a high educational bracket for the most part, although you may consider them "stupid" by virtue of the fact that many are naive users of software. I have never had the same group member spam-unsubscribed more than once. And I continue to maintain that direct-adding them back in with an informational message is no less effective than sending them the kludgy resubscribe link that groups.io already sends.?
