Can we use a sub group as a bulletin board for swaps and challenges
for the group? I understand we would have to have all members join
that sub group to see it. We need a way to post swaps and challenges.

You can set the subgroup's visibility to: "Group listed in parent group, messages viewable by parent group members". That way all members could see them without having to join the subgroup. But they'd need to join the subgroup to receive the posts by email, or to reply to them.

That might be an advantage if most members don't need to post or reply to the swaps or challenges (I'm not sure how those work).
