Jay,
1. so i gather that one can not directly add members in io groups,In Basic (free) groups that's true. If you purchase the upgrade to Premium then you have a Direct Add feature. You can buy it as a one-time purchase giving you 30 days of Premium, or as an automatic renewal. Either way is $10 per month. See the Upgrade page (bottom of the list of group pages on the left). Also the "Plans" link, in the bottom bar on any Groups.io page, /static/pricing 2. is there the same choice in io groups as in yahoo groups betweenYes, except in Groups.io it is vastly easier to obtain web access if you want it. Your "login ID" is just your email address. One can subscribe to a Groups.io group "email only" in basically the same three ways as a Yahoo Group: o Use the email subscribe command (see the group's home page). o Reply by email to an invitation from the group's management. o Be directly added by the group's management (no longer in Y!Groups). The email command will send back an address confirmation email, reply by email to it as well. To gain web access go to the site and follow the instructions. All you really need to do is enter your email address. Groups.io will send an address confirmation email to you. If you click through the link in that email (or the one in an Invitation!) you are then logged in for 30 days of web access. To continue past the initial 30 days you may either 1) set a password for future logins, or 2) ask for another log-in email (another 30 days). You can keep asking for log-in by email indefinitely, you don't have to ever set a password. Even if you have set a password you can still ask for a log-in by email, if that would be more convenient at the moment (say you forgot your password, or you're away from the sticky-note where you wrote it down).
