A lot of it depends on your facts and circumstances. ? I suspect you are looking for a certain type person to join your meetings and not just anyone. ? So, you need to think about where those people are and how you can contact them while somehow letting anyone else they may not be allowed or wanted to join. ? Can others that join your meetings suggest names of others and how to contact them. Does your group have members in other groups that might have people you wish to attend and if so will they mention? to others either individually or get up an announce your group meeting? ? If you are looking for business people you might consider buying a Chamber of Commerce mailing list and trying to sort through those you get labels for as to who you contact. But depending on the actual person your mailing may not reach your desired person. ? Needless to say? word of mouth is the best advertising for anything. ? Without knowing more about the type of person you wish to? contact and the purpose of the group it is difficult for anyone to focus in on what may be best for your situation. ? When I first started a listserve group back in August 1999 I got off to a bumpy start but kept on going and I did several things to make the group beneficial for those that were members. That encouraged others to suggest their professional acquaintances to join and now I have several groups and a few thousand members while limiting who may join in most of the groups. ? If somehow you can add more and more value to your meetings those attending will tell others without having you to ask them to do so. ? Jim ? James C.
