No Bruce, our group is not set to plain text. I see what you are 
suggesting but I think most people using email will just click on 
'reply' which totally ignores anything in the footers. Our special 
messages have 'Reply-To: [email protected]' in the headers 
which is where it will go. It is interesting that some suggest replies 
to special messages go to everybody, certainly not the case here.

That will happen if the special notice is sent online using NewTopic, and the From: address is selected as the Owner account instead of the person themselves, and a hashtag is used which is set to Special but also (either set to ReplyToSender or alternatively the group is set to ReplyToSender)? The special notices sent out like this will now have the Owner address in the ReplyTo header entry hence an email client Reply-click will go to the owner account.

Is this what you're doing?? If not, how are you sending/formatting the special notice?

PS: This way of sending a special notice can be useful when one wants to let the group know of something but have any comments come directly to the owner (+ mod pool) so the topic/matter continues offline.? On the group's messages page online, for this type of special notice, clicking Reply will also be sent as a (Private) message to the owner.? (although in that screen one could instead reply to the group using that button, similar to doing ReplyAll in the email client and removing the owner address from the To: list)
