Re: apparent blacklisting iiNet

After MANY emails and phonecalls to iiNet support, yesterday I had a LONG chat with yet another tech support after I had sent an email, subject line COMPLAINT.
I was told that iiNet itself doesn't block email and they don't have a blacklist nor a whitelist. He said that they have a "backserver" (I think he called it that but I didn't make a note of the name) which decides which domains to block. When I asked for an email address to contact them, he said that they don't have any physical contact (I told him that was a lot of b*s*).
What I am trying to find out is EXACTLY what was done to get the mail flowing again, so I know what to ask for if/when it happens again.
I'm afraid that he was really annoyed with me when I kept insisting on getting the information. Probably to fob me off, he said he would pass on my request to another department and they would contact me. When I asked when that would be, he said 24 to 48 hours !! That was 24 hours ago and nothing yet.... still waiting.
I would advise all iiNet customers to look in their Tasks to see what has been written after phone contact.
Go to your account page, you should see, in red, "you have an open task", then click on that. Now click on "view" beside the open Task.
I just checked the writeup about yesterdays phone call, and a lot of incorrect information has been written, about how I had accepted that the problem was fixed and that I was happy with iiNet and wanted to continue with them. None of that was discussed at all.
I'm currently writing up a document detailing all the dates, times and details of contacts, and copying the responses in the Tasks pane. iiNet has a nasty little habit of deleting any comments older than 2 weeks, luckily I had made notes on a pad of paper...
What really annoys me is that I am being treated like an idiot and that I don't need to know anything more than they choose to tell me.
If I get any further response about what has been done, I'll let you know.

Apparently it's not just iiNet (who have now fixed my problem and I am getting mail without any delay but also includes Comcast and Charternet as well as others.? I had spoken with my IT professionals and?was told to send off a mail to iiNet telling them .....
?
1) Contact iiNet Support (or the support section of your ISP)

2) Inform them that you are not receiving any emails from the domain @groups.io

3) Have them to check with their mail server filter to not block the domain @groups.io in your mail account
?
4) Get them to add @groups.io as safe sender in your iinet mailbox?(insert your email address)
?
The major problem is that you can't contact all the senders of mail by alternate means - that is ridiculous when, for example, I have around 45 of the 51 groups I belong to that I participate in!!!
?
Since I wrote to iiNet on February 5 (received no mails from January 25) I have not had one reply from them saying what they were doing or apologising or anything.? I have written this morning to them saying that it's just not good enough - I started with Ozemail back when it started over 30 years ago and expect better treatment.
?
So people should do the above but please do not my personal information - they should write it from themselves!
?
Thanks and hope this can sort out stuff.
?
Cheers,
Janet

Subject: [GMF] apparent blacklisting iiNet
?

Hello

Email from my groups.io list to members with an @iinet.net.au address appear to be being blacklisted.? The following bounce message is being sent from iiNet:

?

Failed - 554 icp-osb-irony-in3.iinet.net.au Your access to this mail system from 66.175.222.12 has been rejected due to the sending MTA's poor reputation. If you believe that this failure is in error, please contact the intended recipient via alternate means.

?

I have advised the recipient to contact iiNet to rectify this (but knowing how this can be a nightmare to change, since these blacklists are automated).

?

Is there anything else to be done?

?

Thank you

Peter Cook
