I don’t recall anyone suggesting that Mark Fletcher sign up with
Stripe to receive donations to Groups.io.

Groups.io uses Stripe to receive payments. Mark himself suggested that upgrading to Premium is the best way to support Groups.io.

I think there have been a couple of suggestions that Groups.io accept direct donations from group members. I tried to formalize the idea a bit:


Mark has ruled out the use of donations to support Groups.io itself (I think that's what he meant) but I'm still hopeful that he'll implement features to make it easier for group owners to use donations from group members to make the group's plan payments.

That would seem to me to be the most practical "Groups.io Donation
mechanism”. None of the “limitations” mentioned below would seem
functionally applicable to that concept.

I agree. It is about time I write that up as a separate #suggestion, as it really is independent of what the new pricing structure turns out to be.
