Tim, it is not a groups.io issue, apparently Google/gmail was/is having issues.
If you have a gmail account, you may get these bouncing messages. I got two myself today,
and had to 'unbounce' on the site 3 times!

This evening I don't find a message in this group with that and better yet I'm not even sure why I got such a bounce.

On 12/15 one came in for one of the groups I do manage - but best I can tell it doesn't show an email address that may have bounced?

What gives?
