You may have set your subscription up that way. Or it is the default in your group.

Go to Subscriptions in the email footer or on the group homepage. Scroll down to Advanced Preferences. Click on the arrow on the far right. You will see other options.

You may not like it, but I have one group set up with this as the default. Many of my group members like it. As owner / moderator, it doesn't work for me though. Easy to change.
