Yes, the data in there, in plain-text form, but there is no account creation at that point, nor is the information being inserted into a retrievable database. I cannot claim to know all the details of implementation, and in any event, that's not my problem. :-)
There may be some merit to creating a groups.io account for the email address of any post
that passes moderation -- even non-member's. I don't know what that means for system security. We've done nothing to confirm that the address provided actually exists, and has not been spoofed...or that there is a real person on the other end who can receive and respond to emails. Under normal circumstances, accounts in NC status are not allowed to post.
