There is no way of making applicants provide a real name; even if it was asked for thre would be nothing to prevent them using Deputy Dawg (or similar) unless Mark automatically barred obvious cartoon characters. Requiring an Introduction is possible now, using the Pending Subscription Message capability which is available for groups set up (or changed to be) as Restricted.?

The term user profile is perhaps not a good one to use because Groups.io already has that in use, and it is nothing more than another "name" (which may or may not truly reflect the user's actual name) but that is an Account level function not a Group level one.

Suffice to say that having a Restricted group with an active Pending Subscription mesage requirement is the usual way in which this potential problem is addressed.
