IMHO that would be a
significantly better option than using an attached file. Not only could the latter be hard to find before long, sooner or later it would be automatically deleted to make way for something else. (Unless of course the group in question wasn't set to autodelete oldest first material, in which case attachments would cease to work at all.)
A small correction to Samuel's
size limitation of 1 GB for messages; the 1 GB is for
attachments; there is no limit for messages themselves.
