Re: Have a new group with topics in place. Replies are all posting as completely new topics. How do I fix this?

SWVMA,

I have never had an issue with this before but now all of a sudden one
of my forums (that has set topics for members to reply to) is posting
every single reply as a new topic.
You may have run into the 30-day time limit on using Subject line matches to associate a new message with an existing topic.

But if that's the case, it should only affect message posted by email, by members using an email interface that does not supply either standard reply-linking header field (In-Reply-To or References).

If this is affecting messages posted using the Reply link in the bar under a message in your group's Messages section you should report that as a #bug in the beta group.

If the messages that fail to thread are being posted by email, you can either 1) merge them after the fact, 2) convince the posting member to use a different email interface, or 3) post a #suggestion in beta for a way to mark certain topics as "greedy" - they would ignore the time limit. A hashtag option is the most likely way such a thing would be implemented in Groups.io.

Or, my guess may be completely off-base. If so, please provide additional details about how the messages are being posted and how old the most recent message in the intended topic is, and/or any other information that may seem relevant.

Shal
