You may be seeing long posts that aren't trimmed, such as /g/beta/message/6776 If you go to your group, select Messages on the left, then choose one of the View options from the drop down (Thread View is the default), you should be able to reply to individual posts.? In your case, I think Expanded Message View might be the best choice.? They would be shown in reverse chronological order (newest to oldest) by default.? Once you hit the Reply button under the post that you're reading, you have the choice of Insert Quoted Text from that post.? Once that's in there, you can select all that you don't want and hit the delete button on your computer, just like you would in an email program.
