Apologies for an archaic topic, but I believe that my best chance at finding

Does anyone know of a way of deleting an old Yahoogoup if there is no longer a
reachable owner?
There probably isn't one. Yahoo was very lazy when it comes to things like this, and Verizon's trackrecord doesn't give us any hope either.

Some groups have been deleted when there was a "housecleaning" and nobody posted to them in half a year. Many spamhavens survived...

Details: We recently started getting spam via posts to that group. Of the two
moderators, I'm the only one who's still alive. The owner of the group, while
alive and reachable, had associated the group with her old work email, which
is long gone. (I think that even the company is defunct.)
associated to a non-yahoo-email or not, the owner has to have a Yahoo-account and password, as (s)he cannot log-in without.

And, to keep this post sort of relevant, is there anything that we should be
doing with our groups.io setups to avoid this sort of issue in the future?
The most you can do is give more than one person the privilege of deleting the group.
We're still discussing whether (!!) we want provisions for when all moderatlors die...
