GMF is not the official 'Support',
it is users (generally Owners and Moderators) helping other users
but you are asking at the right place

One of my initial new users of a new forum is claiming that they cannot see the menu column below Home.

ON A MOBILE PHONE:
On an iPhone there is no left hand columns,
but a menu bar below with the choices:

-If not logged in:
"More"
when I touch "More" the left hand menu appears.

-If logged in:
"Messages", "New Topic", "Chats", and "More"
when I touch "More" the left hand menu appears.

To log in, one must touch the 'Hamburger menu'
(the 3 horizontal bars to right of the word "Groups.io in the blue band/bar, near the top of the screen)


ON A TABLET:
On an iPad the left hand column only contains "Home", until they log in
(Log In is near the right end of that "Groups.io blue band/bar, near the top of the screen)
