So I moved an email list with 4500 subscribers from Yahoo Groups to Groups.io.
To help ease the transition, I've sent a couple posts that basically expand on the info in the Automated help file, including info on how set subscriptions to a digest mode.
Several dozen subscribers have set their subscriptions to a digest mode without trouble. But some...like perhaps 15-20 (I'm not counting) have contacted me and said they sent email notices to get a digest, but that they're still getting every single message. I presume they're sending these emails to the right email addresses since those are contained in the posts I sent. So those are the basics. To the point:
Have others have trouble with subscribers trying to receive digests but still ending up getting single posts?
If so, is there anything I can do to make sure those people do get digests? Hopefully without my having to make each change myself?
So you say that members sent email notices. Did they send an empty email from their "proper" email address to?
[email protected]
I suggest Full Digest rather than plain text because I think they will have trouble participating in discussion from the plain text digest.
You can see all email commands here -?/static/help#what-are-the-available-email-commands
Nothing required in the subject line or in the body of the email.?This should do it.
Just an empty email.
You can also double-check the Activity in Admin to see what has happened. You can also check the members' email delivery history from Admin, Members.
Just an FYI - this won't help your current subscribers, but you can create a default subscription setting for new members of your group. They can change it if they prefer.
