Unless I have misunderstood you, the "breadcrumbs" were a good clue.
If you locate a photograph by means of a search then the album containing it will be revealed just above the display of the photo itself.
By way of example:
The above Photo was found by searching "my" group using
L557; now look at the pale blue bar above it. At the right hand end is the photo "name" (L557_01.jpg). To the immediate left of that is the Album Name (Larkspur 3 (Indexed)) which is a link, even if it isn't in the above screen shot. Clicking that link will take you to the album
containing that photo.
