Re: An announcement from PG Offline - Y! group transfer extension!?

Great.
PGO needs to be on a self sustaining business model. Nothing is free in life.
We need to support all good efforts at reasonable price and the people who work on them need money to for food and shelter.

Hi,

I just received this from PG Offline. Make of it what you will.

Hi All,

I have it on good authority that Verizon have extended the Yahoo Groups deadline to January 31st.

Wait for an official announcement from Yahoo before slacking off your downloading!

Also I hear that?PG Offline has been UN-blocked for all USA-based IP ranges.

Which is nice!

The PGO-2-GIO program is in development hell but I expect us to break through in the next couple of days.

Whither PGO when Verizon finally pulls the plug?

Plans are afoot to transition PGO to a new data source and a new revenue model.

PGO's Achilles heel has always been its perpetual licence.??

Perpetual licences are OK for Paint programs but not for an app that depends on a 3rd party data source that could change at any time.?

Therefore, moving forward, the new PGO will transition to multiple data sources starting with Groups.io and Facebook groups (maybe also Google groups & phpBB) and it will move to a subscription model.

I'm thinking.. $24.95 initial with $10 a year thereafter?? With no payment needed for anyone who registered within the last 12 months.

If you didn't register in the last 12 months but do have PGO then to move to the new PGO will be $10.?

You can stay with the old PGO.? It'll still read, sort & search your existing downloaded YG data.

And you can swap data with other PGO users using the Export & Import functions.

Moving to the new PGO is not mandatory.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Andy
