I am the founder and first member, hence Owner,? of four destination
group on Groups.io. I later appointed another person a co-Owner of
each (before the transfer).
All transfers from Yahoo were set up and initiated by me.
In each case, the orphan photos on Yahoo were attributed to the
co-owner, not me, after the transfer.
I just checked three other of my groups and exactly the same thing
has happened in all of them.
Is there some kind of pecking order among group owners?
Hence the query.

?I am not sure why you are saying this. It is also not fully clear
as to which Owner / Group you are referring to i both parts of
your statement. However, at least in some circumstances, I can
assure you that your statement is not correct.
In the group that I transferred, I was a Moderator with enough
privileges in the Yahoo group to invite the GIO Transfer user to
do the transfer. I was also the Owner of the destination GIO group
and, in fact, the only member at the time the transfer took place.
As I had expected, all photos originally uploaded by members that
were no longer in the Yahoo group were assigned to my Owner
account. There was nothing random about that.
