The existing transfer process at least involves some semblance of consent from someone in a position of authority in the originating group. If anyone with an email address and this software can subscribe?for a day and immediately clone a group here in groups.io, this raises issues both ethical and legal. In fact, it bears a strong resemblance to DVD or software pirating.
As someone fully vested in the future of this platform, I do not want to see groups.io?get embroiled in some sort of court battle regarding group/content ownership. To the casual observer, that may seem unlikely -- but it only has to happen once. And if it does, we will ALL be affected.
