Gene -- These are metadata -- placeholders for the information that will be inserted when the invitation is actually sent. Keeping in mind that you can send multiple invitations at once, groups.io will parse each of your entries in the Email Addresses box and populate those fields for you.
For example, if you put "Bruce Bowman <myemail @ domain.net>" in the Email Addresses box, [Name] will be replaced with my name and Invitee email address] will be replaced with myemail @ domain.net.
- Will entered text in the Customized Message add it to the form letter or replace it?
It will be
inserted immediately below the line where it says "The following message was included by [you]." There is no way to replace the boilerplate text already present.
