What's shown is the member's Display Name (a nickname he/she can set in
his/her profile), or if they haven't set a Display Name the user name
part of their email address.

One or the other will be visible on their messages as well.

That said, it might make sense to hide from members the Top Poster
section of the home page if the group's Members list is hidden from
members. Or maybe that should be a separate control.

Suggest it on beta@. I'd include "#homepage #members #suggestions" in
the Subject line.
