I had something similar happen to me today.
I had someone who I approved membership for write to me on the Welcome email they get when it says they joined the group asking me why it says they are still?pending membership. Their membership shows up on my membership list as a member and they got the welcome letter. ?

I am encountering problems/glitches regarding "pending¡± members. It is taking several attempts to get multiple members into the forum after their subscription was approved days prior. My concerns are as follows:
?
1. I don't understand why certain members have to be ¡°approved" to begin with, when they have been invited via e-mail. Why is this extra step coming into play?
?
2. Though I am approving the potential member right away, the ¡°approval¡± apparently isn¡¯t actually happening. When these members try to join the forum they are told they are still "pending approval".
?
3. When I attempt to "approve" them again, it doesn't matter. Nor will it just let me re-invite them because they are already in the system to be "approved". This requires me to "reject" the pending member and start the whole process again.?
?
Any guidance regarding these issues would be greatly appreciated.
