I wrote:
Set your display name. I believe that will be used together with your email address.
Correction. Your Display Name will be used instead of your email address.

You can set your display name on a group-by-group basis from your group profile, which you can reach through a tab on the Subscription page in any group, or through the Identity page in your Account.
