Hi Nicole!
Here's my first question: if you want to have more than one group but
want them to go to different emails do you need more than account in
groups.io <>
Yes.
In Groups.io each account is tied to exactly one email address. If you have more than one email address, those accounts will be treated as if they are separate individuals.
There was talk, some time ago, in beta@ about implementing a mechanism to allow a single Groups.io account to manage multiple email addresses. That hasn't been done yet, but it has made it to the "To Do" list:
I don't know how high in priority it might be.
2nd question: how do I change addys in groups.io <>?
I know I can change addys in account but I mean different addys for
different groups. An example would be how yahoo is and you can pick
different addys but have one account. Any way to do that in group.io
<>
Basically the same answer as the first question: Groups.io does not yet have a feature to manage multiple email addresses from the same login.
Third, why does it keep saying I'm bouncing when I'm not.
I don't know, I haven't experienced that. It may be tied up with what transpired below, but that doesn't really make sense to me.
In view of the first answer, things will seem confusing if you aren't careful to distinguish you (logged in with one address) from that other you (who logged in with another address).
When you're logged in to Groups.io you can hover over your name (in the upper right hand corner) and it will pop up the address you logged in with.
Could this be my fault- I messed up the other day and somehow lost
all my groups ...
I'm not sure I followed all of that action. But it is probably tied up somehow in the fact that each email address (including typos of an email address) appears to Groups.io as a separate individual user.
I have been, and several other people have reported being, very confused by accidentally making a typo in your email address when attempting to log in. "Poof" - it seems like all of your groups are gone, and you're asked to confirm again and ... yeah. That's because you (with a typo) aren't you.
The system tries tries so hard to streamline the process of setting up a new account that it "streamlines" you into confusion when that's not what you were trying to do.
Fourth question: I left out one letter of my addy so now I have no
groups on that addy, I did and was receiving mail but due to my own
screw-up I lost all the groups.
If I've got the picture right, no, you didn't. It is just that your typo doppelganger doesn't have any groups.
Is there any way to get them back or do I have to start all over
again?
It should be as simple as logging out of that typo account, and then logging in again with your email address spelled correctly. The account with the typo'd address could never have been confirmed, so it could never actually get to the point of receiving group messages - only a confirmed address can do that.
The typo address may show up in the Members list for groups you attempted to join while logged in with the typo - but those subscriptions will be marked "NC" in those groups. That means "Not Confirmed" - an email address that hasn't been confirmed does not receive group messages.
