David -- Is this what you are trying to achieve?
/g/TekScopes/files/7854/7854%20Initial%20Display%20Problem.MOV? In the online message editor, groups.io "linkifies" the pasted string as soon as I enter a whitespace character (space or carriage return) after the final V. You can also highlight the text, click the "Insert/Edit Link" button on the menu bar, and edit the URL as needed. If trying to do this via email, I suspect it might depend on the behavior of the client you are using, and whether it recognizes Apple MOV files as a valid file extension.
