I don't see the setting to prevent members from deleting messages from the web (archives). Is that possible?

A member, unlike a moderator, can only delete their own messages. And no, there is no setting for you to prevent that. You can prevent them from editing their own messages with the Disable Editing Posts checkbox, in the Message Policies section of your group's Settings page.
