Thanks, Duane. I had never realized the difference in the two menus. Now I have found my lost Merge option again :-)

I know that it sounds very dumb but I thought that even in Message view posts would be threaded instead of shown individually.

Thanks also to Bruce for pointing me to the explanation about Groups.io threading.
