Donnell,
I reading that emails are being spoofed.
So far that has been reported to have happened to a single email address.
It would appear that someone acquired a list of compromised email accounts (these can be purchased at low cost on the "dark web") and used some of them to send messages purporting to be from the victim (Gilly). Given access to an email account at a legit email service it is not difficult to forge a message that claims to be "From" someone else. This is how most phishing and other scam emails are sent these days.
Also, if we transition a group, does the former group lose all the email addresses and member names?
No. The "transfer" only copies information, it makes no changes to the Yahoo Group.
