That would be essential as I understand it. As would getting the message archive into an mbox format file, if you want to import the history of your group.
If you're not looking to import the list's message archive you can DIY the transfer by using Direct Add, pasting in the list of addresses. Upgrade to the "group transfer plan", which is one month of premium (non-renewing) for $10. Or you can use the Invite feature for free.

Looks like importing a mbox file for archives is strictly a "support" process :(

This would be a really nice feature to have via user upload of an mbox file.
I have a bunch of mailing lists I was considering transferring...
if I have to wait months (years?) to get my archives loaded, that is my first gripe with groups.io.
