Whether to keep or discard requires "mind reading" on Gio's part. The best action is to keep a draft... one reason being that this may me one way people could be setting aside a message for a later response. And in the end, people need to manage this themselves. They should click CANCEL if they don't want to keep a draft of the response they started.
The saved drafts thing has saved my butt a number of times when I migrated away from the screen accidentally. What I don't understand...why should clicking on "view/reply online" automatically open a reply box?
When I click on that link, what I *usually* want to do is either:
a) open the associated thread (so I can see this message in context) or
b) simply "like" the post.?
Even when I do venture to reply, I end up hitting Discard first, highlight the portion of text I want to quote, then hit Reply all over again. So in addition to occasionally creating an unwanted, empty draft, having the reply box
already open doesn't save me anything and actually costs me several steps.
Unfortunately, to this point I have been unable to adequately convey this concept in beta, and it appears the situation is no different here in GMF.

Bruce?
