I'm going
to try and get the one before WIBB, which will also give Nick a practise
run at open G#. (Someone's already down for the one after WIBB!)
WIBB's scale is designed for open G#, and it's easier to make them that
way. I'm sure it will be great.
Has anyone ordered no.1? I got the idea that WIBB put an order for no.5
before anyone else.

Are you going to be doing the padding?
If you like me to. I'll even come out of retirement to do it <G>
Right, I'm doing it! Tried to ring Nick this afternoon, but he was out.
I'll get hold of him tomorrow and get my name on that list!

Caroline, I think that Chaminade actually did compose that concertino
for flute with strings...but the piano reduction is OK, you're
right...sorry you don't like it, heehee! (but what happens if you have
to teach it to someone who does, one day????<G>)
Simple solution to that - I don't teach! Never have done anyway,
although I'm a lot more patient than I used to be and I think I probably
could these days. But there are enough flute teachers in Cambridge
teaching up to Grade 8 without me adding to the number.

Oboy, do have fun with the Ibert if you're into getting some gritty new
repertoire! (and start a drinks fund for the poor pianist...<G>) That
is certainly one of the showiest, I think...lots of fingering tricks to
play with as well! The Nielsen, well, although it is one of my
favourites, I don't think it sounds its best with piano...unless you
sneak in a friendly bass trombonist along with you at the concert, that
is!!! (you do know all about the jokes involved with how Nielsen
composed for his friends???)
Yup! Certainly a reason why he wrote that trombone part for a concerto
for WIND instrument anyway...<g>.

I'm feeling virtous today, cos I've just blitzed the kitchen and you can
now see that all the surfaces are white, not coffee coloured! So I'm
going to treat myself by making blackberry icecream tonight - I picked
the fruit earlier today and now I'm just off to Sainsburys for cream and
sugar - cross your fingers it turns out ok!
