From: Glen Ross <ross@...>from Hoffman <hoffman@...>: holesThey have ring keys, rather like a clarinet. It's nice to have open but I find the holes too close for my large fingers (have you tried one I have the same problem. My large hands and the picc do not makeI have small hands and fingers and couldn't play the open holed picc comfortably. The rings had a strange feel to them, not like the open hole flute I'm accustomed to. Anyway, who would want to play a picc when bass flutes are available??I had another good practice sesion on the bass flute at NFA, I played 2 octaves. Well I got a sound out of most of 2 octaves. Played a chromatic scale 3 octaves on the alto rather easily. Has anyone tried the new Trevor James Alto Flute? It's heavily discounted in the States for the rest of Sept as an introductory offer. $1300-1400 US. I think Cincinnati Fluteworks has them. At NFA, Someone played a bass and alto flute solo I think it was somebody from Caliendo (sp) Pub. It sounded gorgeous. I had never heard either as a solo instrument before. ------------- I have received posts telling me that someone is sending people mailSo the rest of us who haven't been "warned" should start posting non flute messages til this person gets tired of writing complaint notes? <GG> Seriously, perhaps they should just be referred to Larry's list. Sounds like they'd be more comfortable over there. To make this non flute related... my sister's wonderful dog, Jazz, just died. She was 14, an adorable, sweet friendly dog. She was my sister's baby. Better get my morning caffeine. Jane tupin@... |
