Yes many I remember, happy to see you!
My flute is at the moment at a flute-spa as it has been sorely? neglected. I hope to be able to play again, it is so annoying though that I get tired before even warming up is done.
It didn't start there, my hiatus, but for some reason I took up a violin! ;D And got caught.? You know, when you get pains and aches in one side of the body from the flute, chose an instrument that will give you aches and pains on the other side too! That helps with balancing - or not!?!
Anyhow, the violin has helped my listening, and ajusting, and to a deeper understanding. Do I play it well, no I do not! Am I a better flute player? Yes I am! Am I a good or decent flute player? No, and have never been! Not my goal!
What happened? I got burned out, exhaution disorder, again! And I got brachial neuritis, again, which affects both? of my shoulders with week muscles. Then I got diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos syndrome too. Well, it adds some physical? problems to play as much as I want.
I have a plan though, as my flute will come back practically as good as new (silvery and shiny, cat fur gone, new pads .... etc) I will start simple. I'm not good at physiotherapy nor sports stuff, but flute might be my physio! Lol. No, simply enjoying!
Amanda, Sandy I remember that time with hours of practise, just for the fun. Now I will have to learn to enjoy doing a tenth of that, if I'm lucky!
And finding my way back here is one step. By the way any tips on how to make playing instruments ergonomically is much appriciated!
