Quark---Alright----I Give Up!

breathedeepnow

This silly site from Germany tells all about how to make quark, and
even sells a quark maker, but they do NOT say what quark actually
looks like, or what its consistency is. Perhaps Quark is actually
something like Ricotta. After all, Italy sided with the Germans in
World War II...

When one does a search under "What is quark?" one comes up with all
kinds of cheesy sites about the mathematical version of quark, but
nothing about the kind of quark doktorr budvig vas talking aboudt!
Idt iss verry frrrustradink!

So again, vhy not yust use der cottich cheese undt leaf vell enuff
alone?

Nelson,
Go back to my post # 20291 and you will find a link to a *starting*
place for you to be able to search by state for grass-fed meats. You
will have to scroll down to over half-way down for the clickable
by-state search.

Hope this helps,

Del

Del,
I was actually addressing Elliot and the comment on the German quark
site. He did not include the address.

Del,
When I sent the reply clarifying mixing FO/CC I meant to include a thank you for posting the info on how to find a source of organic meat. I'm off it completely myself but for those who aren't this seems to be a good place to find a supplier of quality meat and produce. I checked to see who was listed for Mn. and found a number of them scattered around the state. Until now I only knew of 2. Bob Smith

Elliot,
On google the first 2 sites was German American Corner, a site out of
LA. They sell a quark maker and that is where I learned to make
quark. It was before they offered a quarkmaker. At any rate they
steered me to the site that has a starter that I use with milk and my
Salton yogurt maker to make quark. The quark looks exactly like the
sites mentioned on message 20313.

I cannot find organic cottage cheese in this area except in the
health food store sometimes and it is old. Also very expensive.
I am able to get non-fat Horizon milk and I use that.

I make quark as it is a better health choice and it is cheaper.

You are very welcome, Bob. It is not unheard of to travel a few miles
to get good food. I have been going a 5 hour round trip to buy raw
milk. Cannot drink it myself, but my husband can. If a person is not
sensitive to it then it is wonderful for them! I believe with a little
looking you will be able to find some grass-fed meats near by. Get
involved with Weston A. Price foundation for more info on grass-fed meats.

Ciao Ugo

lol

and "Quark!!" is also used in German to express "what a load of rubbish!" ;-)

(because of its similarity to the word Quatsch)
