My son and I use flaxseed oil, ground flaxseed, homemade yoghurt
mixed together, plus sunlight. FO/FS/YO+Sun is our shorthand.
Dr Budwig specifies sulferated proteins and seems to prefer them
from cultured/fermented dairy, ie quark, yoghurt, kefir....... and yes even
cottage cheese.

Hi Cynthia,

I use 100g CC + 50g Yogurt + 4 Tablespoons FlaxseedOil

The yogurt provides acidophilus etc., improves the taste, and thins
out the dairy part (mix the CC and Yogurt first).

I believe this is not contrary to Dr Budwig's advice. Others may
please comment if they feel I have this wrong...

I eat this for lunch with a finely chopped salad of all sorts of
stuff including tomatoe, radish, capsicum, chilli, garlic, celery,
lettuce, cabbage, etc., you name it, all tossed with apple cider
vinegar - it's absolutely fantasitc.

I do the same again for dinner with a smaller side salad (but the
same amount of CC+Yo+FSO), with a main meal.

Thus I consume 8 Tablespoons per day of FSO.

I follow Philip Day's advice and eat nothing but fruit before lunch.
His view is that the body has a natural daily cycle which includes
detoxification and cleansing between 4am and noon. Fruit being a
cleansing food assists the body in its effort to cleanse itself.

I am taking about 4 - 6 tablespoon a day. Eating that cottage cheese and
oil
for breakfast, gets hard, but I am swallowing it,

Two of Johanna Budwig's books are translated into English and I strongly
suggest you get them NOW to fully understand her protocol directly from her
perspective, so nothing gets left out.
Amazon.com and Barleans have the books. I get my flaxseed oil from
vitaminworld.
Yes, in the beginning, the diet is strict, but some meats can be included
after progress. You change your eating habits for your lifetime. Portions are
not restricted.
I frequently use Essiac as a tonic in conjunction with Dr. Budwig's
protocol.

Subject: Urgent Questions!

Hello,

I would like to ask for your help with a crucial decision I'm about to
make. Next Tuesday 4/8/03 I'm scheduled for a biopsy of the lymph nodes
in my chest. It all started with an initial chest x-ray that showed a
nodule in my right lung that measured about .5 inches in diameter.
Subsequent to the chest x-ray I had a PET scan and a CT scan that
diagnostically confirmed the presents of the malignant lung tumor and
also showed additional cancer activity in my chest lymph nodes.

To make things even more challenging, three years ago I had open heart
surgery to replace an aortic valve that was deformed from birth with a
St. Jude mechanical valve. As a result I take Coumadin to prevent this
valve from being rejected by my body. The rejection involves the
formation of blood clots around the valve which could cause severe
stroke and other very dangerous complications.

The Coumadin also thins my blood and causes excessive bleeding when I
get cut or have any surgery. In order for me to be operated on I have
to stop taking the Coumadin for 4-5 days prior to the surgery. I'm
scheduled to be admitted to the hospital the day before the surgery and
receive heparin IV treatments. After the surgery I will immediately go
back on the heparin IV and start taking the Coumadin again.

This complication adds additional risk of post operative internal
bleeding and creates more worry and stress for me. I have also been
told that if they confirm the presents of cancer in my lymph nodes they
will immediately recommend either chemo or radiation treatments. If the
treatments are successful, I will go back in the hospital for the
removal of the upper and middle lobes of the right lung.

I'm very seriously considering canceling ALL Western medicine treatments
and surgery. If I do this I'm evaluating four separate treatments as an
alternative. These treatments include Dr. Budwig's diet, acupuncture,
oxygen treadmill therapy and "Directed Mental Imagery Healing" (DMIH) a
specialty form of hypnosis. In reviewing the Budwig diet many questions
come into play. I would greatly appreciate your experience with the
diet. Please review the questions below.

1. How strict is the Budwig diet?
2. Can I eat things like fish or organically raised meat?
3. How much of the mixture should I take in the beginning?
4. Will I need to stay on this diet for the rest of my life?
5. Are the portions of food restricted?
6. Would any of the other treatments interfere with the Budwig diet?

Thank you in advance for all your help!

Jerry

Switch from cottage cheese to plain nonfat yoghurt with live bacteria or make
your own allowing it to do it's thing for 24 hours, this makes sure all the
lactose is converted. The beneficial bacteria in yoghurt are wonderful for
any number of gut issues. Kefir is another option to cottage cheese.

My mom started fo/cc a month ago after she finished her first round
of chemo for ovarian cancer. It seems that fo/cc makes her very
constipated. Has anyone had the same experience? Since she doesn't
eat much cheese before, I'm wondering if it is Lactose Intolerance.
I've heard that some people used soft tofu instead of cottage cheese?
Does anyone one know how much I need to use? Thank you in advance
for your reply.

Regina

Constipation can also be an imbalance between Calcium anf Magnesium. I was
taking 25 grams of vitamin C daily and 4 tablespoons of ground flaxseed and
still constipated UNTIL I adjusted my magnesium intake.

if you mom adds freshly ground flax seed to her mix and then drinks a tall
glass of water, and gets PLENTY OF VITAMIN C, she will have no problem with
constipation. Constipation is often a sign that a person needs more
vitamin
C according to my Naturopathic doctor. Sure has been correct with me.
